1 September 2001, ASCOBANS 10th Anniversary On the occasion of its 10th Anniversary, ASCOBANS staged an exhibition entitled "Oblicza morza - Gesichter des Meeres - Faces of the Sea". For this exhibition, twelve contemporary Polish artists kindly provided works of art with maritime motifs. Many of these exhibits were created specifically for this occasion.The exhibition was organized in cooperation with Gdansk University's Hel Marine Station and the Foundation for the Development of Gdansk University (FRUG) and Stowarzyszenie Promocji Artystów Wybrzeza "Era-Art." z Gdyni - Ewa Golebiowska (Association for the Promotion of Artists "Era-Art." Gdynia - Ewa Golebiowska).) The exhibition was shown at the United Nations Premises in Bonn, Haus Carstanjen, Martin Luther-King-Str. 8, 53175 Bonn from 24 September until 5 October 2001. A 10th anniversary brochure, "From Idea to Implementation - ASCOBANS Ten Years On", contains contributions from various key actors involved in the ASCOBANS process over the past ten years as well as useful information on the Agreement. It is available on request from the ASCOBANS Secretariat. 1 January 2001, ASCOBANS Secretariat Integrated into CMS Agreements Unit On 1 January 2001, the ASCOBANS Secretariat was integrated into the newly established Agreements Unit of the Secretariat of the Convention on Migratory Species Animals (UNEP/CMS of Bonn Convention). The Secretariat
has been co-located with the CMS Secretariat at the United Nations Premises
in Bonn since 1998. Integration into the Agreements Unit was decided by
the 3rd Meeting of Parties, held in Bristol from 26-28 July 2000. In implementing
this integration, ASCOBANS has followed the Secretariat of the Migratory
Waterbirds Agreement (AEWA), which was the first Secretariat to take this
step in June 2000. The Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation
of Bats in Europe (EUROBATS) has also joined the CMS Agreements Unit on
