What You Can Do to Help

Sufficient data are essential to the conservation of marine mammals. Therefore, the Conservation and Management Plan annexed to ASCOBANS urges Parties to establish an efficient system for reporting and retrieving bycatches and stranded specimens and to carry out full autopsies on bycaught and stranded specimens. It is also important that sightings of live specimens be recorded. You can assist scientists in this endeavour by reporting finds and sightings to the following institutions.

Moreover, you can become active in non-governmental organisations dealing with cetacean conservation.

And please remember: Cetaceans depend on a healthy environment. This means that in contributing to keeping the seas clean, you are contributing to the survival of cetaceans and other marine life.
