Fam.: Delphinidae Atlantic white-sided and White-beaked dolphins dolphins are large and robust animals with a short thick snout and a tall falcate dorsal fin. Both species have striking black-and-white markings and feed on schooling fish and squid. "Lags" (an abbreviation of the Latin name of the genus) inhabit the cold temperate to sub-Arctic North Atlantic, including the northern part of the North Sea.
